A New Dawn is a pre-production project filled with emblematic environments related to bright characters. The story follows the journey of a girl named Nadya who has the power to travel through dreams while also diving into themes of loneliness.
Although the story was based on a dream, some artistic influences include songs from La Oreja de Van Gogh, as well as locations such as Venice and Oban. Michelle Lam and Lindsey Stirling are artists who inspire and motivate me to keep working on my passions. As someone who struggled to make friends, A New Dawn encourages those who need a little push to socialize and build relationships.
Nadya's Dream
Nadya is a shy, sweet girl who doesn't hesitate to help those in need. After finding out about her powers, she wears rainboots to prevent any unwanted travel. I added a white bow to her character design to add character and innocence to her design.
Nadya's dream is a floating islands environment that rotate around a star. She has an umbrella on her island to travel to different islands, which would lead her to travel to other dreams.
Andre's Dream
Andre is a quiet, reserved boy who also has the power to travel through dreams. Although he refused to be Nadya's friend at first, Andre becomes a mentor figure to Nadya after she helps him through a nightmare. His cool-toned design amplifies his reserved and quiet nature.
Andre's dream environment is a nightmare. His dream takes place in a forest with a cabin, hiding from other creatures that hide in the wilderness. Because this environment is a nightmare, the colors are less saturated than it would be in a dream.
Jasmine's Dream
Jasmine is a bubbly girl who passionately strives in her education. Although very studious, she wants to have a career in fashion. Her design is leaning towards 'academia' due to her studious but also fashionable interest.
Jasmine's dream is a Venice inspired environment. The dream is very warm toned due to the dream being a very happy place for Jasmine.
Kayden's Dream
Kayden is laid back, going with the flow wherever the waves take him. His dream is the first dream Nadya stumbles upon. He likes to spend his time on the beach surfing. His clothes are light-colored and appropriate for any beach activity.
Kayden's dream is a cabin next to a beach. Because he enjoys surfing, the setting is more colorful and located next to the ocean.
Andrila
Andrila is the main setting where the story takes place. Andrila is a small port town where there are many clouds. Because this setting takes place in the real world, the colors are more neutral than they would be in a dream.
